Over the past week or so I have seen lots of Pacific sideband snails crossing the paths. Normally I remove them from the path so nobody will accidentally step on them. The other day I decided to watch one to see what it was up to. It crossed the path, went over to this small stick on the ground and started to eat the lichen.
After munching awhile on this stick encrusted with lichen, it continued on, found a loose piece of lichen on the ground, devoured it, then quietly and slowly it disappeared into the forest —magical little creature.
