As I walk along the pond lily trail, I am struck by a beautiful mosaic. The colors of the landscape are subtle and soothing - small, impressionistic brush strokes. Leaves are gently falling and rustling in the wind. The song of the river is flowing in the background. Mixed flocks of birds are sweeping through the landscape - bushtits, golden and ruby-crowned kinglets, chickadees and red-breasted nuthatches. It’s a parade of whistles, toots, tinny horns, squeaks and joyous chitchats. The air is cool and crisp. It smells earthy and sweet.
